Overview
MindMeister is a free web 2.0 application comparable to Google Docs or Spreadsheets that enables users to create, manage and share mind maps online and access them anytime, from anywhere. In brainstorming mode, fellow MindMeisters from around the world (or just in different rooms) can simultaneously work on the same mind map — and see each other’s changes as they happen. Using integrated Skype calls, they can throw around new ideas and put them down on “paper” at the same time. Maps can be imported from and exported to standard desktop mind mapping applications such as MindManager and FreeMind, or even as a document outline or image file. Community features such as tagging and change notifications (also via Twitter) make MindMeister all the more useful for global collaboration. All you need is a standard web browser — no plugins or additional software required.

[…] I just received a preview account for MindMeister, and I am totally blown away. Granted, there have been a couple alternatives available for some time, such as bubbl.us, Kayuda, or Mindomo, but MindMeister seems to be the most promising of them. It does not have anywhere near the set of features currently offered by MindManager, but it has the same look and feel, with a streamlined user interface that makes it easy and quick to record ideas as they come, in a non-linear way. MindMeister also allows mind maps to be shared with others or published on the web, and offers graphical versioning capabilities for shared maps. […]
This is a great application it seems. Glad to see the progress they are making.
